Gellinudd Care Home
The 12-bed Gellinudd Care Home in Pontardawe designed by Hurley & Davies, offering secure, specialist flats and therapeutic communal spaces.
Hurley & Davies were appointed to deliver full architectural and project management services for the transformation of a former hospital site in Pontardawe, Swansea, into a purpose-built 12-bed care home. The project involved the sensitive redevelopment of the existing structure to accommodate 12 secure, self-contained flats, alongside communal and creative spaces, and the addition of four new-build flats within the site’s curtilage. The design focused on creating a calm, therapeutic environment tailored to the needs of adults requiring specialist care.
The specialist adult care provider offers a range of services. These include complex mental health care, physical disability support, personal care, and emergency/respite care. These diverse needs were central to the design process of Gellinudd Care Home. H&D supported the client from initial brief development through to planning and building control approvals, tendering, contract administration, and on-site supervision. The result is a thoughtfully designed facility that balances security, comfort, and therapeutic value, ensuring a high standard of living for residents.
The Gellinudd Care Home project demonstrates our expertise in delivering bespoke healthcare environments. We combine architectural sensitivity with robust project management to meet complex care requirements.
