St Teilos Project highlighted In The Evening Post

Faith in Families (the Swansea and Brecon Diocesan Board for Social Responsibility Ltd) is involved in highlighting issues of social concern within the Diocese. It is a Registered Charity and works within the Diocese in co-ordination with the Bishop and the Diocesan Board of Finance and is also supported by the Diocesan Mothers Union.

The work involved the refurbishment of a Grade II listed church [George Pace Original Architect] and a new crèche facility. Outside, the asymmetric shed in blue engineering brick walls seems pretty unremarkable, so on entering one is surprised by the dramatic structure of a series of asymmetric, cruck-like glulam trusses, enclosing a single open space (and delimiting a side aisle, consequently lower in height), flooded with daylight – the Glamorgan Pevsner praises its “exhilarating internal management of space“.

Hurley & Davies Ltd provided full architectural design services form inception through to completion. This also included project management and quantity surveying roles. Hurley & Davies Ltd assumed the lead consultant role co-ordinating the structural and Civil and Mechanical and Electrical packages of work.
