Former Grammar School Restoration
Hurley & Davies managed the external restoration of the Grade II Listed Former Grammar School in Usk, enhancing its appearance and preserving its historical features.
H&D completed project management duties on the external restoration works of the Grade II Listed Former Grammar School located on Maryport Street in the centre of Usk, Monmouthshire. The six-month programme involved extensive conservation efforts to preserve and enhance the building's historical features.
We managed the external restoration works, including roof repairs, rebuilding chimney stacks, and replacing leadwork. Our team also carried out essential maintenance on rainwater goods and fascias. We cleaned and repointed a large percentage of the external stonework to fully enhance the building’s appearance. Additionally, we restored all windows and external doors, many of which are original features, to a good condition. Working with the Roger Edwards Educational Trust and Taliesin Conservation, we achieved the goal of improving the external appearance of this impressive Grade II Listed building.

The external restoration of the Former Grammar School in Usk by Hurley & Davies showcases our commitment to preserving historical buildings. Our meticulous project management and conservation efforts have significantly enhanced the building’s appearance while maintaining its historical integrity.
