The project entailed the refurbishment of St. Mary's Church Hall in the village of Ystradfellte. Following a fire and subsequent demolition of a large leisure facility in Port Talbot, a number of outlying leisure centres were refurbished as part of an insurance settlement to continue to accommodate the existing members. The scheme entailed the refurbishment and reconfiguration of four leisure centres to facilitate the client's loss. Our work involved liaison and negotiation with insurers and loss adjustors, along with acting as lead consultant for the refurbishment works.

Following the local authority's closure of Treherbert swimming pool, a local group formed in an attempt to raise awareness of the facility in the hope of reopening with the aid of grant funding from The Big Lottery. For Hurley & Davies, this involved undertaking a costed feasibility study that would provide a sustainable facility which replicated the business plan and model, in terms of the services offered. The grant criteria meant that a detailed condition survey was required, while we also created proposed plans for planning approval in compliance with Sports England guidelines.
